Just read your ebook about HDR. I am heavy into it. Your expression of passion and commitment to perfection reflects in your images. I find working in HDR does give me the tonal range I want. Going back to Edward Weston and Ansel Adams I can only think how excited they would be to have that technology we have today.

Thank you for all your help. At 71 years of age I find the venture in photography gives me my youthful passion again. Jim

Hi Jim, welcome to The Hollow, and THANK you for taking the time to leave us your fabulous comments! I find myself really quite honored to read your words today. I totally agree with your sentiments on Edward Weston and Ansel Adams. Both Mrs. Toad and I truly appreciate your comments, thank you for leaving them. With feedback like this, we will certainly be working on our next edition once the dust settles in the workshop here, so to speak. 🙂

We are thrilled to hear that at 71 young years of age, you’re still out there making it happen, Jim. My Dad loved photography his whole life, and stories like yours and his really inspire us more than we can properly express. Best wishes, my friend, please do stay in touch!

Great stunning fantastic HDR images. What a great find of your site.
After shopping all day for Christmas gifts it was so nice to see great images to wind down with. Just like to know your feelings on the process of using only one raw file to make a HRD image.
There is a nice You tube video on this process. How to do HDR with a single RAW file in Photoshop – Tutorial (HD) Make a nice video to put on your Note 2 downloaded in Firefox.
I look forward to your newsletters.
I found this saying on a post and its great for all us dinosaurs that once used film.
One day, when I am dead and gone, those that argue against everything I say will be saying exactly what I do now and arguing against the next generation; but I won’t have to listen to it 🙂

    • Thanks so much William, we really really appreciate your visit and your fabulous comments! As far as your question concerning using one RAW file, this is an absolutely great way to create strong imagery. I’ve played with it a bit myself a while ago and found that in particular if you take a RAW file and use it to generate -1 and +1 EV versions from it and feed all 3 into a program like Photomatix, the results can be extraordinary due to the fact that the RAW files hold more dynamic range and detail than first strikes the eye. I also know of another photographer who works out of the US who just uses one single RAW image and does HDR tone mapping with great results. It’s not the process that really matters, it’s all about the end result! 🙂 Really looking forward to interacting with you in 2014 William, best wishes to you and your family for the holiday season!
