The Limited Edition Collection

"The Hollow" - Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

“The Hollow” – Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

Nestled in the heart of the Cowichan Valley sits this lovely little farmhouse.  A sloping landscape takes the viewer through the picture to settle on the still Quamichan Lake in the backdrop, with a cluster of dramatic clouds high overhead.  This picture won the Professional Category in the Land Trust Alliance of BC Fall Photo contest 2012.

"The Fog Of Winter" - Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

“The Fog Of Winter” – Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

A cold November morning followed a clear night, a sure sign that frost and low-lying fog was likely in the Cowichan Valley.  As the sun was beginning to rise, a frosty landscape was revealed, and in it a magical scene.  At this time of year, the shadows are long, adding a wonderful dimension to the peaceful Canadian landscape.  This was most visible in the shadows of the trees, casting their outlines on the valley floor.

"Autumn Reflections" - Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

“Autumn Reflections” – Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

Some of the very best kept secrets are just a few hundred yards from our own backyard.  The tiny community at Genoa Bay Marina is one of the quaintest and loveliest little spots on Vancouver Island.  Float homes are moored to the docks of this somewhat hidden and very private marina, creating a distinctive Vancouver Island setting for photography.  This quintessential island setting showcases the special nature that is found on the coast.

"Misty Reflection" - Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

“Misty Reflection” – Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

In late January of 2013 the Cowichan Valley found itself enshrouded in a thick veil of fog for over a day.  It was an amazing phenomenon, with the fog being so thick in spots that you just couldn’t see more than a few meters.  Maple Bay Marina was one of the few spots with enough visibility to reveal a bit of the haunting landscape the impenetrable mist surrounded.16X20 ONLY

"Anchor Watch" - Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

“Anchor Watch” – Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

As the sun began to slowly crest over the horizon, a landscape of incredible beauty and mystique made it’s presence known.  The tiny community of Cowichan Bay was still, the only sounds were those of the birds that were stirring.  The reflections from the lights on the boat and the layer of mist that hung over the scene were beguiling.

"Window To The World" - Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

“Window To The World” – Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

The Old Stone Butter Church in the heart of the Cowichan Valley hasn’t been home to an active congregation for over 100 years, but still provides the most incredible subjects.  Changing seasons produce different scenes making it a place to return to often.  On this cold winter’s morning, the thick fog created an impenetrable veil.  A statement on modern times; expression and art in graffiti juxtaposed against nature, framed by a door that once was.

"Turner's Confectionery" - Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

“Turner’s Confectionery” – Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

Turner’s Confectionery and Magazines is a Victoria landmark that is now long ago abandoned but not forgotten.  Many years ago, Turner’s Confectionery and Ian’s Coffee Shop were at the heart of the hospital district.  A link to a simpler time when good coffee was always served with a smile, all that remains now is the legend.

"Quiet Moments" - Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

“Quiet Moments” – Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

As autumn sets in here in the Cowichan Valley, the activities of summer begin to dwindle as we settle in for winter.  A visit to a local cemetery finds a lovely stone feature with an inviting wood bench covered in leaves.  The carpet of color adds a sense of loneliness and peace to the undisturbed scene, inviting the visitor to enjoy a moment.

"Standoff" - Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

“Standoff” – Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

Pastoral farm scenes are found everywhere in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island.  A lone tractor faces a pair of tall trees, the only two remaining in the cleared area.  The scene creates a dichotomy exploring concepts of man vs. nature, and even though there are only two trees left standing their sheer size gives rise to the notion they will still be here long after we’re gone.

"The Red Barn" - Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

“The Red Barn” – Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

The barns on Vancouver Island are as wonderful and full of character as are the people who own and tend to them.  No two are alike, each has its own personality.  As the first snow of the season dusts the ground, a burst of orange in the sky in the backdrop signals the end of day.  With no straight lines and a weathered face, this is Vancouver Island character at its best.

"Docks At Twilight" - Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

“Docks At Twilight” – Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

As summer comes to a close on Vancouver Island, the shadows get long and the days short. A visit to the wonderful island town of Cowichan Bay reveals scenes of the bay sitting under the watchful gaze of the surrounding mountains. Gentle blue tones dance across the landscape, creating lingering moments of solitude and appreciation for all the island has to offer.

"The Lost Kiln" - Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

“The Lost Kiln” – Limited Edition Prints: 10 Prints

All that remains of what once was a bustling cement factory and a company built town are some foundations and this long lost kiln.  Overlooking a bluff on Vancouver Island, this timeless sentry has one of the best views to enjoy as the relentless march of time and decay continue their encroachment, eventually turning a factory back into pristine nature.
