Buying a new car is a pretty exciting time, I must say. Especially when the car you are getting is one you have really wanted for years. In today’s post I am happy to share with you a few shots I took when taking delivery of our brand-new 2017 Chevrolet Volt from Wheaton GM in Victoria, BC. As a car guy I’ve been following this car since it was a concept car introduced sometime around 2010-2011 to the public. It was a revolutionary design and had really interesting potential, and I found it exciting. Now that a few years have passed Chevrolet has completely redesigned it, improving on features and specifications that really make this car stand out as a “one of a kind” in the car space it lives in.
What makes this car unique is it a true electric car. It is differentiated by all the other electric cars out there in the way that it has an on-board gas engine that acts as a generator for the electric motor for times when the batteries run out. They refer to this as an “extended range electric car”, and the Volt stands on it’s own as no one else is really doing this.
With gas prices increasing once again here on the west coast of Canada, and my daily commute being what it is, the time finally came where it made a lot of financial sense to trade our SUV in and get this great black car. I also really love the styling, and Chevrolet has done a top-notch job of improving the on-board electronics and safety features to really make this car a joy to drive every day.
I had a great experience at Wheaton GM with the entire sales team. They made me feel very special, and everyone there seemed to enjoy my crazy enthusiasm as we went through the purchase process. Delivery day was a big day as I really wanted a red or black one, and the folks at Wheaton went out of their way to do a dealer trade for me to get the exact car I wanted. I couldn’t be happier. The other thing I really noticed while going through this was how the team was not a “high pressure sales team”, as I find at many other car dealerships these days. I never felt pressured during the entire process, and I have come away with a great appreciation for the folks who work there.
So, without further ado, we’d like to welcome our new Chevrolet Volt to the family and share some shots with you all! We’ll undoubtedly be taking more pictures of it over the coming months as we have adventures in it, so stay tuned for updates here.
