It’s all in a name, they say, and in this case Four Acres of Rust says it all. Our photography adventures find us exploring all sorts of wonderful spots here on Vancouver Island, and in doing so we meet the most incredible people. In today’s post we are going to feature one of our favorite treasure troves here on the island for all things rusty, antique, and just downright beautiful. Welcome to Four Acres of Rust!
For those of you who follow us regularly, you already know of the incredible adventures we had this past summer going all over Vancouver Island looking for rusty cars and antiques for a very special client of ours who is a private collector of our art. We traveled over 1,500 kms in the span of a few short weeks and saw all sorts of incredible things, and met a ton of great people.
As a result of these adventures, a new and exciting chapter has opened up here at Toad Hollow Photography through our meeting Shawn and Miss Daisy over at Four Acres of Rust. We found so much beauty in the vehicles that live here, it was almost impossible to tear me away. We had the pleasure of spending the time for two sessions and only just scratched the rusty surface of all the treasures that call this place home.
Rustoration or Restoration; words we heard often during our visits here, ones that speak towards how incredible it is to see new life brought into the classics that are found at every turn. In addition to being able to perform any type of welding and metal fabrication you may need, the opening of the new Four Acres of Rust shop at Drivers Welding will offer car parts and accessories, including hard to find vintage parts, and in the not too distant future t-shirts as well as other cool and sometimes rusty collectibles.
We have often talked since our visit about asking Shawn to build us a classic custom retro-rod truck for Toad Hollow Photography, allowing us to travel the highways and byways of Vancouver Island in retro style. This new truck would be made up of all new running gear and parts, but would have a classic body, making it both safe and stylish at the same time. How much fun would that be?
In the meantime, if you are looking to contact Shawn, pop on over to the Drivers Welding site for their phone number or email address. We’ll bring you updates as things progress at Four Acres of Rust, so stay tuned for that in the future as well.
Thank you for taking the time to visit us here at The Hollow today, we really appreciate it. As always, we love to hear from all our visitors, so please feel free to leave us any comments you may have below.
