We’ve all heard about the Seven Wonders of the World, a list of places and things that are true marvels in every sense of the word.  Sometimes a wonder can actually be right in your own backyard, no matter if it lives on a list somewhere or not.  We have one such wonder of our very own called Maple Bay.

The entire west coast of Canada is full of great features that are totally unique to the region.  Here we find blue ocean waters, mountains, beaches, lush rain-forests, even great skiing in the winter.  In some places several of these elements converge, as is the case with Maple Bay.

This is also a place we choose to call home.  Just over the crest of this hill is our very own Toad Hollow, a quiet reprieve from the bustling world we find ourselves navigating through on a daily basis.  Frequently you will find the lovely Mrs. Toad walking these winding roads where she comes down to the bay to enjoy a few moments of solitude and peace as time drifts by.

In what feels like no time flat, an entire afternoon can pass you by.  Wonderful ocean breezes swirl about as gulls circle overhead with their distinctive call, reinforcing those feelings that you have stepped out of the modern world to enjoy a short reprieve.  Those fortuitous enough to own, or even in some cases live aboard, a boat are some of the lucky ones.  There is no better sound than that of the ocean as the waves lap against the side of your boat.  Particularly if you are sitting on the deck with a glass of wine in hand.

Autumn is here right now, revealing a different look and feel at Maple Bay as the leaves turn color and the temperatures wane as summer fades.  Homes overlooking the bay enjoy unparalleled views as the weather changes and the boats ebb and flow  It’s almost as if the best of all worlds exists here.  It is a place that is tranquil and peaceful, and a place you can come for private moments or moments that you share with someone special hand-in-hand.  Either way, Maple Bay will grab your heart and never let go.

Just before you leave here today, let’s take a fresh perspective of Maple Bay and see it from a new vantage point.  Sometimes in life, it’s all about a change of context in terms of how we observe and feel about the world around us.

We really appreciate you taking the time to visit us here at The Hollow today, thanks very much.  As always, we love to hear from all our visitors, so please feel free to leave us any comments you may have below.

Love the images and the video, Toad. We moved house last Autumn and are now withing a 40minute drive of the South Coast and it has really opened up an entirely new dimension to our lives and to my photography. There is something so peaceful about being beside the sea, sitting there quietly and looking out to sea and seeing sometimes a boat or two – maybe nothing except the ocean and the sky.

    • Hellllo there my good friend, Andy! Well said, my friend, we couldn’t agree with you more. So happy to here you’ve found yourself within a nice drive of the sea, it really makes for compelling photography. One of my favorite things about this is how the seascape changes quite a bit depending on time of year and weather, it can really change things up and give you new opportunities for great compositions. Thanks so much for your kind visit today, we really do appreciate it my friend!
