Island living has many perks.  The landscape and oceanscape changes by the hour, revealing new vignettes as the hands of time march along.  Summer is now upon us, and with it comes bright, sunny days that showcase the island and the communities that dot the shores.

Tides ebb and flow, features are discovered only to be lost anew as the next relentless cycle finds us once again.  Seagulls perch atop patches of land amidst a blue seascape while others find temporary roosts atop poles.  Those lucky enough to own sailboats spend hours lazily drifting, enjoying the warm winds that gently glide over the top of the water, bringing with them comfortable cool air that pushes back the heat of summer.

Others spend their days working on their boats, maintaining and fixing things that are the direct byproduct of weathering on the ocean.  This labor of love is a place of serenity for these people who take great joy in watching the minutia of slow change as the world around them carries on.  Who doesn’t love a moment of solitude as the sound of waves gently lap at the sides of the boat and the gulls cry in the distance.

These moments are savored and enjoyed by all, even those of us lucky enough to be standing on the shore with an outward view.  Time floats gently by as a busy world rushes past behind us.  Today we take this perspective to find a moment of solace and to enjoy all that island living has to offer.

Thanks very much for popping on by to see us here at The Hollow today, we really appreciate it.  As always, we love to hear from all our visitors so please feel free to leave us any comments you may have below.

To be so close to all of this water is truly a dream, especially when the weather is this beautiful.

I love these images. Everything about them just feels like summer.
