Well, it’s been one hairy weekend, even for a Toad! We were up and about pretty much all weekend finalizing all our arrangements for the upcoming 41st Annual Cowichan Valley Fine Arts Show!! Please click here for information on the show.
We’ve been in touch with the council lately and it appears that even in the current economic climate, art shows are a big deal. This year they are expecting a record number of artists, submissions and visitors. One of my tasks this past weekend was finishing the framing of our 2 prints that will be displayed in the exhibition. There were specific guidelines I had to follow for our prints to be accepted.
Our Twitter and WordPress blog here will be offline as of today until next Monday. To say we’ll be thinking of all our friends and fans is a massive understatement, please know we will be missing you all! It’s very difficult for me to walk away from our online community of friends and fans, even for a week… we just love everyone and really love being part of the community. But, this is important for us. We are hoping to perhaps win an award at the show, or at the very least form some great new relationships personally and professionally with the people in our community.
It takes a massive amount of effort to ready for such a show. We had to order in our prints for the main exhibition as well as all our products we will be selling at our table for the 4 days starting on Thursday, April 7th through to Sunday, April 10th. Mrs. Toad has been working tirelessly on packaging all our products, matting a large set of prints, and taking care of all the small details that come up. We still have quite a bit to do, but in all honesty we will be ready to go.
Tomorrow everything begins. We have to head over to the center to drop off our exhibition prints in the morning. By 2:00PM they will be hung in the main exhibition area, and as we understand things there will be some private judging at that time, probably for some of the awards that will be handed out.
On Wednesday we arrive for the Gala Opening. There is an auction before the opening that begins around 5:00PM we understand, and we will definitely be at the Gala well before 7:00PM.
Then on Thursday the real fun begins… 4 days of exhibition and taking care of our table in the gift shop area. I will try to send periodic updates via Twitter if anything exciting happens, but as mentioned, our main Twitter feed will be quiet during this time as we focus on the show. Updates will most certainly be pending for next Monday, for sure, stay tuned for all the after-show news!!
And with that, I must be off to attend to some details! As said, we will really be thinking of everyone, and missing you all… it’s very very hard to be away from all the action here at The Hollow! Best wishes to everyone, we’ll be back next week!!
