As has been stated over and over again, sometimes you find the most interesting subjects just by taking a look around you. I have a few images to share with you today that definitely fall into this category.
As I was doing a shoot of some heritage buildings, I returned to my car and noticed this scene. It wasn’t an obvious scene to photograph at first, but with a little bit of observation I noticed details beginning to emerge that were indeed interesting. The one element that really jumped out at my was the Vietnamese Restaurant Open sign that is illuminated. Behind the fence, it seemed a strange sight from this angle. I am sure that there is an alleyway or some other method to access this business, it’s just not entirely obvious from this vantage point. I also really liked the fire escape and the metal ventilation system, they really added some interesting lines to the image. The whole thing just struck me as really odd-looking and interesting at the same time.
This appears to me to be another wonderful example of how heritage buildings in Victoria can be well maintained and provide a home to local businesses for the long-term. The color of the brickwork and the overall setting were really striking, and in particular I loved the little bit of snow on the awning above the front door.
I just loved the perspective of this shot looking up the street. Yours truly, The Toad, had to hop out-of-the-way of oncoming traffic to try to get a shot to share from this vantage. I really believe this gives a brief snap of what life is like in Victoria on a bustling weekday afternoon. In the distance on the horizon, you can see the spires of one of our local heritage churches. This will become a subject of a later shoot.
Many thanks for the visit today, please do feel free to leave comments as we love to hear from our visitors!!

We actually live quite far from Victoria, I just work in the city Mon-Fri. With the summer coming, perhaps we could head into town one night! Thanks for stopping by and leaving such great comments today Erik, we totally appreciate that.
Thanks a lot. Now I’m hungry! Great captures!

That last shot is really cool, like the way it leads the eye.
