Well, I’ve been home with a real bad flu all week.  Photography is an awesome hobby and pastime to have when you’re sick and I’ve had a huge backlog of images in the hopper for everyone.  Today’s post is a whopping 10 new HDR images of local architecture.

These 2 images I captured on the same day in the same area one afternoon.  I loved the roof and stairs of the first place, it really has a full on west coast feel to it.  The second place is truly a quintessential Victoria home.  It is bright and colorful, but it also elegant and classy at the same time.

I absolutely love this scene, there is a lot to take in.  The row of singularly blue and silver modern import vehicles was a complete dichotomy to the very old homes and buildings they are lined up against.  The blue and green board siding is both colorful, but it is also slightly worn and textured, adding a wonderful element to the entire scene.  The other feature of note is the stonework that faces the noses of the parked cars, I love the colors and details hidden in there.

These two gorgeous homes are absolutely wonderful examples of local early 1900’s architecture and detail styling.  Note the picket fences and the colors of the homes, once again, completely typical for the area and time.  In the yellow house, the front window has a stained glass detail that is just lovely and incredible.

These photos were both taken in the Gorge Rd area, and they face the water.  The first one is a classic art-deco design and the second is just a wonderful heritage style home.  I really way struck by the red stairs leading to the front door.

The last 2 homes were captured in the same area, just down the street a little.  Both beautiful examples of Victorian character as expressed through architecture.  The final photo of the green home is a brand new home that is designed and was built to mimic the classic styling to try to fit it into the neighborhood a little better and I find the effect is well, effective.

Thanks for taking the time to read our blog today, and please feel free to leave a comment, we’d sure love to hear from you!

  3. It would be impossible to stroll down these neighborhood streets without a camera. There are no cookie-cutter homes here! Scott, I love how your individual style is evolving. I hope that you’re feeling better and looking forward to a wonderful weekend.

    • Thanks so much Barbara I really appreciate that! Sorry for being gone all weekend, my wife and I were pretty ill, but we’re starting to feel better now so we’re back at terrorizing everyone again… LOL
